Details of what is happening at your Club

Sad Loss

Many of you will know that we sadly lost our Friend Doug Forbes at the end of 2019.  Doug was for as long as I can remember the smiling face that greeted many new members when they first approached the club, and was always a font of sailing knowledge. He will be missed.

Racing

Adam Drabble has racing on alternate Sundays until mid March please see the club website (members / welcome ) for details .The Wednesday evening racing will start on 1st April and we hope to restart Saturday racing after Ops and Tops in June.

Sunday Opening

The Council has been working hard to ensure we have volunteers to open the clubhouse every Sunday from 12-4pm. Thanks to the small band of volunteers we are open into March so if your name isn’t on the list please drop an email to the commodore and get involved.

Training

Ops and Tops will be kicking off Saturday 6th June, so be prepared for more sailing more hotdogs and loads of fun.

Instructor day is planned for Saturday 4th April. This year we re making a concerted effort to attract members to become assistant instructors. We  will be running a course and buddy system for them. So please let the Principal know if you want to get involved.

Plans are well under way for a Safetyboat , Powerboat and Dinghy course in April and May. These will be advertised on the website and facebook shortly.

Club Open Day

Will take place under the auspices of the RYA Discover Sailing events on Saturday 16th May.

This will be our opportunity to entice new members to the club and to show the local area what we do. We will be advertising on Facebook and in some of the local media inviting people to come up to the club and try sailing.

Your support would be most welcome with lots to do. Welcoming people, getting them ready to sail and afterwards signing them up to the club.

Around the Club

Between Christmas and the New Year we had a group of volunteers turn up to sort out the Jetty. They have added some of the missing bits and relayed the anchors. There is a small piece that needs to be replaced and we are sourcing this at present. Thanks to the Volunteers.

Member’s Duties

There are lots of tasks and activities going on at the club. It takes a lot of work to keep the club open and functioning so we do rely on you the members to do your bit for the club.

We must remember that the club belongs to all of us so we all need to get involved and help out where we can. Simple things like doing the bins. Or emptying the the dish washer. Please do lend a hand the more of us that do it the less work there is
