Details of what is happening at your Club
Windsurf Open – Took place on 6th October, thanks toMartin for organising this. There was a small dedicated band of boarders out on the water most of the day. Thanks go to Geoff Whalley for providing Safetyboat, Sarah Ball for Galley and Darcy for the lovely cakes. Also thanks to Marty who took on OD duties.
Reminder–Boats kept on the boat park should be on trolleys and Not on road trailers as they take up too much space. Some of the Dinghy park is looking like a jungle. You are also responsible for keeping your space tidy.
Club Opening – Sincethe last newsletter we have been able to get members volunteer to open the club on Sundays. So far we have names to cover every Sunday until the end of November. So come on lets get names down now for Saturdays and Sundays
The interest in courses has started to pick up, with a dinghy course and powerboat course having taken place recently. There are still plenty of names on the lists waiting for courses and these will be planned over the coming few months. Just be aware that all of our instructors do this voluntarily and unpaid so we do need to fit in with their personal lives and freetime.
Sunday racing will start on 27th October to be held bi-weekly. Adam Drabble will be organising this.
Wednesday NightDance Classes: start on 30th October, with Tea at 6.30pm followed by dance instruction.
Wanted:- is there anyone out there willing to get involved in organising social events for the club? Please drop me an email.
Around the Club
The weather is now turning cold, our Wednesday night race series has finished. Thanks to all who were involved, Adam, Simon and Doug to name but a few.
OpsandTops on a Saturday morning has also come to an end, there have been a number of younger members showing real potential as they develop. We are now finishing off assessing these youngsters for their youth sailing certificates over the next month. Thanks go especially to Dave Hudson, Mike Morgan Bob Glowa and Geoff Whalley for their enthusiasm over the summer & not forgetting the BBQ team!!
Adam Drabble has agreed to run a Sunday race series on alternate sundays. Starting on 27th October for those who are interested. Please let us know if you want to take part. There will be an obligation to help out on the series for those racers. Saturday sailing will be down to the individual sailor, at present there are no plans to put a supportboat on the water.
The Council has to make the club more available to members by getting members involved in opening of the club at weekends. Whilst this has been somewhat successful, it was agreed at the 2018 AGM that if the help wasn’t forthcoming we would have to make it a requirement of membership. I would like to hear your views on this before the AGM. Contact details below.
Takes place at the clubhouse on 3rd November at 2pm. There is a nomination sheet displayed at the clubhouse for anyone interested in being on council. Details of the running of the AGM can be found on the club website in the Clubs Constitution(articles40-45) After the AGM we normally have a glass of wine with some cheese and crackers to round the afternoon off. All members are welcome.
